With everything from extreme sports to gentle strolls in the country, Monkstone offers something for everyone.

Both of our self catering cottages are dog friendly, so your furry friend can come and enjoy the stay as much as you do.

Our two self catering holiday cottages are full of character. Honeysuckle Cottage sleeps 2 and forms part of a 16th Century Grade 2 listed Medieval Devon Hall House. Monkstone Cottage sleeps 2 and is a delightful detached barn conversion. Both are finished to a high standard throughout with level access and secure off road parking.

The perfect location for a holiday on Dartmoor

Touching the edge of Dartmoor National Park and only a 15 minute stroll up to Brentor Church which dates back to the 13th Century and is one of Devon's most famous landmarks, Monkstone makes the ideal holiday base for exploring Dartmoor with its magnificent granite tors and miles of open moorland for walkers and cyclists to explore.

Monkstone is on Route 27 Cycle way. The nearby Granite Way, Tarka Trail and Drakes Trail as well as the Tamar Trails in the Tamar Valley offer easy cycling and walking along traffic free former railways and paths. For those seeking an activity break there is also pony trekking, golf and gliding just 5 minutes away.

Within easy reach of beaches, country houses and gardens

From Monkstone, there is easy access to the north and south coasts of Devon and Cornwall with their beautiful sandy beaches, surfing and coastal walks. It is also a good base for visiting many famous gardens, including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Garden House as well as the magnificent National Trust houses and gardens at Cotehele, Buckland Abbey and Lanhydrock.

A peaceful and relaxing location

Situated at the end of a private drive and surrounded by lush countryside and spectacular moorland, peace and quiet is assured. Five minutes in the car takes you to the National Trust beauty spot of Lydford Gorge or to the thriving market town of Tavistock with its bustling Pannier Market and specialist local food shops where you can sample local cheese as well as Devon cream teas and pasties.

We offer a warm welcome all year round. In Winter the woodburning stove is perfect to come back to after a day exploring Dartmoor. In Summer relax in the private garden amidst a riot of colour and watch the fabulous sunsets over the moors enjoying the silence of the countryside.
